"What seems like a long time ago I watched the male and female ducks take up residence in our pond. They spent some time familiarizing themselves with their surroundings and then found a protected spot to build a nest. It isn't a very impressive structure, more of a shallow bowl near the water's edge lined with moss, down feathers and small sticks. After almost a month of brooding the duck hen observes her ducklings with pride: they are so adorable! Now that they're out and about I'm having difficulty focusing on my painting, I can't stop watching them!"—Marjolein Bastin
